ARTE IN SALOTTO BECOMES CAMILLA PRINI GALLERY
Every living project needs to grow, to evolve, and to find new words to tell its story. Arte in Salotto was born from a precious intuition: to bring art to where the heart of life beats—into the homes and the intimacy of collectors. Today, we represent international artists, participate in global art fairs, and engage with collectors from all over the world. That name, so deeply Italian and impossible to translate, was beginning to feel a little too small. We needed a name that could speak every language.
When I first opened the gallery, I chose the name Arte in Salotto because, at the time, I was organizing one-night exhibitions in collectors' homes. For a few hours, private residences were transformed into galleries, showcasing the artists I had begun to represent.
Yet, my vision hasn't changed since 2020. I have always known that I wanted to create something far from the mainstream—the antithesis of the "white cube" gallery, that sterile, clinical container for artworks. I wanted a warm space, because that is who I am, and because I believe in a more spontaneous approach to the art world. Everyone, even those who aren't experts or collectors, should feel at ease when walking into the gallery. As much as I am attached to Arte in Salotto, it gave our reality a touch that was perhaps too local. Now, we are ready to play on a global stage.
The spirit of the "salotto"—the intimacy, the care, the personal attention—remains unchanged. Our identity is evolving as we open up to international markets, while staying true to our founding values. The dialogue between art and the home remains central; one of the things I love most about my work is entering a collector's home and helping to find the perfect place for a new acquisition.
Wherever we go—and we hope it is far—we will carry that "salotto" spirit with us: the idea that art isn't something distant, but something that enters people's homes, hearts, and lives. It’s just that now, that salon is called Camilla Prini Gallery, and its doors are wide open to the world.
