BRUNELLO MANU

Manù Brunello (Mestre, 1959) began her artistic journey in 1994 with the creation of jewelry, decorated and painted with ink. This line of pieces later expanded to include decorative objects for the home.
Brunello began painting in 2008, and her studies at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts allowed her to explore a new and different perspective: portraying her jewelry, moving from the microcosm of meticulous craftsmanship to the freer expression of painting on canvas. Fashion serves as a major source of inspiration for the artist, seen as a constantly evolving art form influenced by culture, place, and time.
As the artist explains, “My work arises from the research and interpretation of the forms and surfaces of objects, represented with the utmost attention to portraiture.” Objects are thus reinterpreted through a technique that combines interlacing and three-dimensionality, framing them in a kind of iconic representation. In recent years, she has focused on the figure of the Geisha, synthesizing in a single image the allure of jewelry, embroidered fabrics, and accessories. In November 2021, Camilla Prini Gallery dedicated an exhibition to this series of paintings, which was met with great public acclaim.
