L'ORMA

L’orMa (Lorenzo Mariani) was born in 1985 in Milan, where he currently lives and works. In 2007, he graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and, while still a student, became an assistant to the artistic duo Vedovamazzei. He entered the art scene by exhibiting in various galleries, public and private institutions, and earning selections in prestigious art competitions. In 2011, he was commissioned by the Lombardy Region to create a sculpture representing the theme proposed by Expo 2015, which is still on display today at the new skyscraper complex housing the Region’s offices. He was recently named the winner of the 9th edition of the VAF Foundation Art Prize.

L’orMa’s research explores multiple forms of expression and techniques, converging on recurring themes primarily related to the rapid advancement of progress. In recent years, his work has focused particularly on the current “coexistence” between the natural world and the new virtual reality that surrounds it. Paper has recently become his preferred medium, allowing him to create works that in some aspects evoke the oriental art of origami.
