CORNIÈRE JEANNE-ISABELLE

Jeanne-Isabelle Cornière was born in Paris in 1974 and currently lives and works in Florence. After earning a Master’s degree in Art History from the Sorbonne, Cornière was introduced to painting by Fabrice Denis at the Académie des Peintres in Poissy (Paris).

After moving to Florence, she attended the Libera Accademia del Nudo (Academy of Fine Arts) and studied in the studio of painter Alessandro Berti. She was introduced to sculpture by Professor Vincenzo Ventimiglia (Academy of Fine Arts) and refined her drawing skills at the Russian Academy under Professor Sergey Chubirko. In 2008 and 2009, she was selected as a finalist for the Premio Arte Mondadori in the categories of graphic arts and sculpture. In recent years, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad (Miami, London, Paris).

For Jeanne-Isabelle Cornière, sculpture is a serious exercise in exploring human nature, with particular attention to themes of childhood, time, and memory. In the formal development and execution of her work, Cornière works with live models, from whom she derives drawings, photographs, and paintings. Her aesthetic is clean and minimalist, dominated by the timeless whiteness of resin or plaster, interrupted only by small colored elements or objects (glass, paper, resin) that serve as symbolic keys and allow access to the meaning of the work. Her figures emanate a graceful silence and profound presence, inviting the viewer to pause for a moment.
