PIREDDA ALESSANDRO

Alessandro Piredda was born in Riccione in 1974. He lives and works in Misano Adriatico, in the province of Rimini. His studies at the Liceo Artistico and the Albe Steiner Academy in Ravenna fostered an early interest in architecture, followed by a passion for photography. While his initial collaborations were with various motorcycle and sports publications, his enduring fascination with architecture has resurfaced in recent years. Currently, he focuses his photographic research on social and artistic themes.
The series “Darkitectures,” presented in a solo exhibition at Galleria Forni in December 2018, portrays iconic monuments of Italian architecture captured at night in black and white. The light is warm, filtered through darkness to reveal the soul of these structures as testimonies of civilization and human history.
As the author states: “By using light and shadow, darkness and clarity, and time itself, understood as a measure of man, photography has documented the flow of cities and civilizations. These images capture time, momentarily freezing it within stone. The voluntary memory of these photographs represents the recollection of stone not as an inert substance, but as a continuation of the vital impetus of living forms.”
